Sun Tzu: The Art of War

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

There are two things good about being a nerd. Being a nerd, since school days I can tell you these two benefits: 1) You have very strange interest and 2) you have no social life what so ever…. trust me none, nil, negligible at best.

So what is so good about these two benefits? Well you get to pick up on interesting stuff like part of Sun Tzu Art of War 1st chapter:

Sun Tzu said:

"Warfare is the greatest affair of state, the basis of life and death, the Tao (way) to survival or extinction. It must be thoroughly pondered and analyzed."

"Therefore, structure it according to five factors, evaluate it comparatively through estimations, and seek out its true nature. The first is termed the Tao, the second Heaven, the third Earth, the fourth generals, and the fifth the laws."

"The Tao causes the people to be fully in accord with the ruler. They will die with him; they will live with him and not fear danger."

"Heaven encompasses yin and yang, cold and heat, and the constraints of the seasons."

"Earth encompasses far or near, difficult or easy, expansive or confined, fatal or tenable terrain."

"The general encompasses wisdom, credibility, benevolence, courage, and strictness."

"The laws encompass organization and regulations, the Tao of command, and the management of logistics."

"There are no generals who have not heard of these five. Those who understand them will be victorious; those who do not understand them will not be victorious."

(End)

Grassy Key

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Thought you guys might be interested to know what sought of project I worked on. A bit too late? All the curiousity ran dry already? Could not be helped I guess. Could not say a thing until it was sold to customer. Anyway….its called:

i275 code name Grassy Key 2. Why does it have a strange name like Grassy Key, well its named after islands in the Florida Keys, much like the same way Intel names it products after rivers in Washington (I think).

It uses iDEN infrastructure, so good luck finding i275 in Malaysian market. Its mostly used in America. You might even see one of our products on TV, during the first season of Apprentice, they used i830 code name Quark.Gk2_02_2

Feast of St James

Monday, July 25th, 2005

For all you Christians out there, today, July the 25th is the feast of St James. Which St James are we talking about here? Its none other than one of the 12 apostles. The one that was initially fearful but spoke out publicly without fear once he had received the Holy Spirit. However it was because of this action that he was the first apostle to be prosecuted.

Looking at this I cannot help but wonder, have I ever spoke out publicly among my non christian friends, proclaiming how good the teachings of Christ is, for fear that I will be condemned. Perhaps it is also because living in a protected environment, I have not gained enough life’s experience that I never could appreciate how important the teachings are. Now as I venture into the world, in my seventh month of working, it is easy to see how simple it is to be mislead or walk down the wrong path, how hard it is to climb back up again and how very important to have a guiding light in front of you. I know now that it is both reasons, lack of courage and experience. Perhaps one day I will have the courage and the ‘well trained’ tongue…. can’t forget the tongue… to share.
